A Safety Crisis in the Trucking Industry

Protecting your fleet has never been more affordable

Based on preliminary data the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) released in May, the total estimated fatalities in crashes involving at least one large truck increased by 13% from 2020 to 2021 — and they’ve increased a whopping 52% since 2010.

But truckers aren’t dying in these crashes — it’s other people on the road. The Truck Safety Coalition noted that despite passenger vehicles being safer than ever, 97% of fatalities in large truck crashes are of passenger vehicle occupants.

“What more is needed to take safety seriously?” asked Dawn King, president of the coalition’s board of directors. “We need to do everything possible to reverse this terrifying trend because lives hang in the balance.”

At TVC Pro-Driver, we’re committed to helping make roads safer. For example, we offer a safety incentive program, in which we pay fleet managers $50 per driver after they’ve achieved six months without a citation or violation.

We’ve also formed recent partnerships with three industry-heavy hitters: SambaSafety, which helps fleet managers control foreseeable risks, EROAD, which offers tracking systems to maximize fleet safety, performance and compliance, and Bluewire which helps motor carries see their potential exposure to areas of risk.  All three companies are working diligently to reduce the trucking industry’s unsettling crash record.

That’s what’s so great about being a TVC Pro-Driver member. You don’t just receive the line items on your fleet plan — you also benefit from our industry-wide relationships.
